The point of "ur mom/dad" jokes

WHAT IS THE POINT???

IMO it's disrespectful, since our parents are the most influential people in our lives.
Just for fun really, not sure who first had the idea...

Ofc, we aren't directly insulting any parents, just roasting friends or making people laugh is the general point. :)
When I was kid a common one was "your momma wears combat boots" with more and more women serving in the military, I have seen todlers wear shirts saying, "my momma wears combat boots"
Yet another reason why "chess jokes" threads are always so damn hilarious.
Probably so they can try to illicit a prescribed response of some kind. Reminds me of that show that used to be on that Music channel years ago. :).
When I was in 3rd grade we had fun with them. Who remembers when it was called 'the dozens'?
Yep,i was just thinking of the dozens. I wonder where that name came from. Just looked it up but im not too certain of the explanation i found.
