Hello friends, I am a chess fan and when I play in lichess and I have victory over an opponent with a much higher Elo, the points they give me are ridiculous... and on other occasions it has happened to me to dominate the game and make a mistake at the end and lose by hitting +20 points to the opponent!! I would like to be able to understand the scoring system because I don't find it attractive this way... thank you!

what exactly do you mean? show a games, where was it+
there are 2 things
1) when you just registered on Lichess, changing of rating is much much larger ,then after for example whe you playe 100 games or more, I think that 's you case, BUT for winning agaisnt such recently registered opponent, IF he has much higher rating( he has ? near his rating, for example 1862?) so you are 1400 and he is 1862? then for winning against him you don't get veryy much, because he recently registered, and his rating changes very quickly, so it's not his real daily rating yet, after he plays 200+ or something games, then his rating is without ? and all is counted as causal games
2) if all ratings are withoug ? and stable already, and you are 1400 and he is 1800 , it's NORMALto get +30 or something like that for a win anyway

you ve gained here +256, because you recently registered, and didn't played much,
but after your stable rating without ? was calculated after some games, I didn't found a games, where you played much higher opponents and gained +20

Read the FAQ, they use Glicko-2 rating system
