And I'm guessing that it's because, with correct play, the pawn on d5 isn't defensible and that Ba6 hitting the queen comes with tempo, but I'm just wildly speculating.
It seems that white can better regain the c4 pawn by playing the developing moves 5. e4 d6 6. Bxc4. This preserves the d5 pawn and neutralizes the black move . . .Ba6.
